You can read everywhere prognoses about our economical system. Some predict chaos, others predict that the crisis will be over soon. How can you possible make a career in such times?

working with passion
First of all I think you shouldn’t interpret the word ‘career’ as ‘a position as high as possible’. You should rather see it as finding your passion, the place where you belong. That isn’t necessarily a job as the CEO of a huge company. When I started teaching a group of foreign ladies a few years ago, I asked them what their dreams were. An idea by TaalopMaat, where I had followed a training. And what did they answer?
One lady wanted to become a hairdresser, another wanted to be a receptionist, another wished to work at a nursery for children. All very common and simple professions that you don’t need an academic degree for! Possibly you too would like to have a certain profession or even your own business. I have a small business myself and it’s quite fun.
About the economical crisis: I believe it will continue and that many very large company will fall. But I also believe that many things are going to happen and that we will create together a new, better system instead of the present money system.
You also see emerge alternative initiatives, like in Wageningen where I live, there are the LETS. That’s an alternative money system in the form of printed stones. You can’t use them yet for your rent and electricity bills, but only for services. So if you need a gardener of someone to repair your computer, things like that. You give something you’re good at and you receive LETS that you can pay with. Strange?
No! There have been initiatives like this many times in recent history … and they solved major problems! Just read here about the history of money. It can be shocking news, but it’s all true. So there have been before alternative money systems, in which the money was divided in honesty. Sometimes you could pay everything with it! Economical crises disappeared like snow in the sun. But the governments in the countries where it existed, saw their chance to quickly forbid those systems, and then the economical crisis came back, together with poverty and misery.
I’m not an economist. I don’t have a real idea about money. Actually I wish money wasn’t that important, because then life – at least mine – would be a lot easier. I also know that many people think like I do and that the money in the world in divided in an injust way. There are people that are miljardairs – can you imagine that? How would your life be? What would you do each day? – and people that don’t even have food to eat. Most of these miljardairs don’t do a thing for the poor people. While they could easily give them a couple of miljards, so they could live and eat well.
That’s why I basically believe it’s ok that the money system in collapsing. Of course it’s terrible if you are touched by that, but now is the time to build a better system. That’s why I believe we shouldn’t be afraid that you will have a difficult life because of this crisis. I think that will only happen if you believe so.
Also in difficult times – or should I say: most of all in difficult times? – hairdressers are needed, politicians, language teachers, bank managers, accountants, furniture making people and sport trainers. Even in a crisis life goes on and you are needed in society. Yes, the situation is changing and maybe you will loose your job for a while or you will be paid a little less, but for everyone there’s a place on earth, also for you.
